A.Blog entry – 06/07/2013  adding code to a game

B. Development work

Firstly I opened up a new flash file so that I could start my Rock, paper , scissors game. I created two forms, one was layers and the other was actions/code. I then added a background colour of blue to fit in with the rest of the forms. I added a unload button which would take you back to the games form when connected. I entered an instance name for the button so that it would connect with the games form when I added it to the IMP, I then uploaded three images and converted them into a symbol, I changed the drop down menu to buttons and then clicked finished so that the images would now be converted into buttons and gave each an instance name, so that they would interact with the coding that I would put in. I also created a text box which would show if the user had won, lost or drawn by text showing up. Once I created all the layers I clicked on the code layer and then right clicked so that I could click on actions, I then added coding so that the unload button would work and also coding for the game. Also coding for the buttons to interact with the game and coding for the text box to show feedback according to how well the user is doing. When I finished the coding I checked to see if the game would work I then saved the document, it worked so I had to connect it with the game form, I created a button on the games form which would take me to the new game. I coded the button by entering an instance name for the new button created on the game form and then using the coding I connected it to the new rock, paper, scissor game. I then wanted to test that the games form connected with the new game and that the new game actually works, I did this by saving the new game and the new button on the game form. I exported the IMP file so that I was able to view the whole IMP. I navigated to the games and clicked the new rock paper scissors button, it took me to the new game, I clicked one of the buttons to see if the game worked. The game gave feedback after I clicked the button and the game worked accordingly.

C. How the development work will fit into the brief

My client brief said that it would make the IMP interactive and user friendly, by adding buttons to the games form which would take you to other forms it makes the IMP easier to navigate and also more interactive. I think  by adding more games it fits into my target audience as it will entertain them and also keep them interested in the IMP. This is section g in my client brief.

A.Blog entry – 05/07/2013  adding text to forms, adding links to buttons , adding links to images

B. Development work

Firstly I highlighted a layer that I wanted text on e.g. Videos form. I then found the text tool which would allow to add text boxes, I dragged a box which was at a suitable size, I used a font which made the form look appealing, also I choose the text to be blue to fit into the background. I made sure I ungrouped the form so that I could group the form again but with the new text that I just inserted. I also added links to buttons which would take the users to other external links by using the code library, I entered the correct code into the code layer I had to enter a web address and the instance name of the button. Once the coding was correct and the button was grouped into the form and converted into a symbol I tested the form by exporting the file and viewing the IMP, I went onto the websites form and clicked one of the external links buttons, It then opened the external website. I then added external links to images, I highlighted the main menu form and imported four images by clicking file, then import, import to library. Once the images were in the library I selected them and put them on the stage and more specifically the main menu form.  I converted them into a symbol and changed the drop down menu to button and then clicked finished so that the images were converted into buttons. I gave the new buttons relevant names and suitable instance names. I went to the code layer and using the code library document I entered code which had the images instance name and also the external link. I then tested the buttons by exporting the file and entering the viewing tool in adobe flash professional, I navigated the main menu form and clicked each link and they worked accordingly.

C. How the development work will fit into the brief

My client brief says that the |IMP should be interactive, by adding these skills it makes it easy to know what form you are on which makes the users experience easier. Also by adding external links to the forms this helps the user find important information that they might need, our aim is to help the user find out the right information and if the form doesn't have that information we can direct them to a website that does. overall I think the development work does fit into the client brief well as it contributes to making the whole IMP interactive and appealing.

A.Blog entry – 04/07/2013,  Creating the forms for the IMP, adding effects to buttons

    B. Development work
Firstly I opened adobe flash and then selected Action Script 3.0. I renamed the first layer to code. All the code is going into the Actions of the first frame of the code layer. I then created more layers, each layer represents a form. I renamed each layer with a suitable name. I clicked the modify menu, Documents, Canvas size to 1500px (width) X 1000px (height). In the Timeline I selected Frame 1 of the MainMenu layer. I  then imported background picture to stage. by clicking File/Import to Stage/  and selected an appropriate background image. I then used the  free transform to change size and  place. I then clicked the Window menu and Library to display your library. I clicked Windows/Common Libraries/Buttons and chose a button. I duplicated my button and give them meaningful names such as btnmaintovideo. I right clicked on my buttons to change the text on them. I then dragged buttons onto my stage. I clicked on each of my buttons on the stage and then went to properties to change the instance name of them. I highlighted everything on my main menu layer including the buttons and background image and then converted it to symbol. I clicked movie clip on the convert to symbol menu and then clicked finished. I selected the form and went to properties to give an appropriate name for the instance of the form on the Stage which was frmMain. I did this for each form I made I repeated the steps another four times for my other forms and gave them all different instance names which were suitable.

    C. How the development work will fit into the brief
In my client brief I said that I would make the IMP interactive and also I said that my IMP would have different screens for the different information, Also it said to make the IMP user friendly by adding buttons to the forms it will be easier for users to navigate around the IMP.
this is section g in my client brief

    A. Each Blog entry needs a Blog title and Date 22/06/2013, Converting images into buttons, adobe flash professional, Working with labels, adobe flash professional

    B. Development work

we had been  given a template of a gallery on Adobe Flash Professional , the images on this gallery template had nothing to do with what I was doing on my IMP. The first thing I had to do was find 4 images that were relevant to my topic and save them into the IMP folder. When I had done this, I imported them to the library by selecting file import to library and deleted the current images on the gallery, but wrote down their instance names. I then put my own images on the stage and gave them the same instance names as the previous images, I  made them appropriate sizes and placed them in a different layout which I thought looked professional. I then converted all of the images to symbols and then made them buttons in order to make it interactive I did this by right clicking on the image and selecting convert to symbol, I then made sure that the drop down menu had button selected, I then clicked finished and the image was converted into a button. I did this for four different images. I then finally added an unload button to close the galley when finished with it, I made sure I gave the unload button an appropriate instance name so that when I connect it with the form it will be able to take the user back to the form

    C. How the development work will fit into the brief - This will fit into my client brief because I said I will make it look professional and also make the IMP interactive with a gallery which will look presentable. Also it fits in with my target audience and is relevant to the IMP. Also I said in my client brief that I would make a form with interactive features on them.

    Blog 4

    A. Each Blog entry needs a Blog title and Date 21/06/2013, converting image into a movie clip, slicing up image into 4 pieces

    B. Development work

I opened a new flash document and selected file, import and then import to stage. From there I imported my image and clicked ok. I did this process four times as I needed my four images. I then converted each of the images to a symbol by pressing F8 when the image was highlighted. I gave my symbols appropriate names and checked that movie clip was selected and then I clicked ok. I selected my image using the selection tool and gave the images instances names these were burger_mc, burger2_mc, burger3_mc, and burger4_mc I did this by selecting the image and then clicking properties. I then inserted a new layer called actions, I right clicked on the first frame and selected actions. I entered code into the actions section so that the drag and drop game would function. I then tested my drag and drop game to make sure it worked. I added a unload button to the stage. I also gave the unload button an instance name so that it would actually function.
To make the quiz I used a template with a quiz already set up. I needed to change the questions and answers and to make sure that it worked I needed to changed some of the actions on the code layer. To change the answers I needed to click on the code layer and then changed some of the text so that it would correspond with my answers from the quiz. I changed the background stage to blue to fit in with my colour scheme. I had to test the quiz to make sure it works and functions properly.

    C. How the development work will fit into the brief
in my client brief I said that I would make my IMP interactive  by making a drag and drop question and also I made a interactive quiz which again sticks to my client brief to make the IMP interactive for my target audience. The questions are suitable for my target audience.

    A. Blog entry – 20/06/2013. working with layers, importing images to library and converting image to symbol

    B. Development work -
I opened a new flash file and I set a appropriate stage size, I have selected 400x200 dimensions, I then selected the rectangle tool and used a dark blue to fit in with palmers colleges colours and filled the whole of the shape area. I then selected the text tool and typed in the phrase ' scratch me' on top of the rectangle shape. I used Trojan pro and used the bold text icon and font size 40 and used white font. On the timeline a locked layer 1 and inserted a new layer. I then imported my relevant image and resized the image to fit the shape with the free transform tool. I selected my image and converted it to a symbol by right clicking on it and selected convert to symbol and then I gave it a suitable name. I changed the instance name to maskedbg_mc.  I then added a new layer and named it actions and right clicked on the first frame and selected actions. I entered code so the layer so that the scratch game would work. I created a variable called mouseclick and set the number value to zero. I then created a new sprite called mask_mc and se the masked objects to the background image. This also adds the sprite onto the stage. I added three even listeners for the mouse down, move and up events. Each of the listeners have different functions.

    C. How the development work will fit into the brief in my client brief I said that I will make the IMP interactive by putting games onto it and also make it user friendly and easy to use, I have a done this by adding a scratch game and also adding buttons which will allow you to go back to the menu.

    A.  Blog entry19/06/2013. importing video into flash, adding skin to video , adding button to stage, coding the button

    B. Development work

I started by opening adobe flash professional and selected action script 3.0. I imported one of my .FLV video files. to do this I clicked on file and then import video. I browsed my H drive until I found the video file I needed. I selected a new skin so that it would be appealing to users. the skin I chose was miniaflatcustomcolorplaybackseekcountervolmute.swf. I then clicked finish so that the video would appear with my selected skin. I resized the video by right clicking on it and selecting free transform tool. I renamed the layer to scene1 by double clicking on the layer I then added a button onto the first frame of the scene1 layer by selecting windows menu, common libraries and then buttons. I then changed the instance name of the button to btnunloadfim in the properties window. I added a new layer and put it to the top and renamed it code. I saved the file to my project folder. I right clicked on the first frame of the code layer and selected actions and entered the code and then saved it again in my project folder so that it would create an FLA file. I then clicked file and then publish so that a .SWF file was created in my project folder. I repeated the steps four more times because I had another four videos to do. I also repeated the steps for the full movie videos as well.

    C. How the development work will fit into the brief in my client brief I said I would have video clips on the different stages and that you would be able to watch the full film. I also said that the IMP will be easy to use and user friendly, I have done this by using buttons so that users can navigate around the different stages.
